Quality Firewood

Buying Guide

Softwood

Softwood is wood from coniferous trees such as Spruce, Pine and Larch trees. Softwoods tend to season and dry more quickly than hardwoods. Softwoods also give a stronger flame making them perfect for a roaring fire.

Hardwood

Hardwood is wood from broad leaf deciduous trees, such as Ash, Beech, Oak or Sycamore. Hardwoods tend to be denser than softwoods, meaning that they will generally burn hotter and longer than softwoods.

Kiln Dried

Kiln dried logs provide the ultimate clean burn with maximum heat output. We kiln dry our logs on-site using a specialist biomass boiler installed in 2016 and which we upgraded in 2020 to ensure that we can meet the rising demand for kiln dried products.

Kindling

Kindling is usually wood from softwood species which when split thinly dries quickly making it ideal for starting a fire.
